In February 2016, Karen received an email from her employer inviting her to join a program to prevent hypertension.
Up until then, I had been doing Weight Watchers. It was okay, but I wasn’t making much progress and didn’t really have a sense of direction.
The idea of having a coach, a supportive group of peers, and interactive content at her fingertips was intriguing, so Karen decided to give Noom a shot and put Weight Watchers on the back burner.
As soon as I started the program, my mindset started to shift. I realized that I had everything I needed to make a lasting change in my health.
The program far surpassed Karen’s expectations, and working with Coach Nancy was just what she needed to feel supported and empowered.
Coach Nancy was there whenever I needed, it’s as if she was always here with me! She was my sounding board, my accountability partner, and guide throughout this journey.
Karen and coach Nancy messaged daily in the app and connected over the phone every few weeks. Together they worked to set realistic goals and concrete action plans help Karen reach new milestones.
I couldn’t believe I’d lived this long and not had real goals. I finally felt a sense of direction!
Over the course of her program, Karen lost 40lbs. A year later, she has been able to keep it off.
It hasn’t been an easy journey. I’ve had my ups and downs, but thankfully I had coach Nancy to guide me along the way.
Motivated to be an example for and keep up with her grandson, Karen has developed habits she never thought were possible. Once convinced that “this body don’t run,” she now proudly declares that “this body runs now,” having competed in and running parts of 4 5k races in the past year!
The easy-to-read articles and small step challenges that she received helped her understand the changes she needed to make and helped her develop the skills and confidence she needed to change her habits.
What I am doing, it’s sticking. For the first time in my life, the weight is not coming back!
In addition to losing over 40lbs, Karen went from having high blood pressure to having normal blood pressure.
Before starting the program, I was borderline hypertensive. A few months later, when I went to see my doctor, he was shocked! My blood pressure was now in the healthy range and I haven’t had a reading outside the normal range since.
Today Karen is so thankful to her employer for allowing her to change her habits and change her life.
My life isn’t perfect, but I feel way way way better than I did a year ago. I can move more freely and I just feel so much more healthy and happy!
She wants to pay it forward and spread the true health and happiness she has found by sharing her story.
If I can inspire someone else to make better choices and find a healthier path, I’m all for it!
