How Casey lost 22 pounds in just 16 weeks

by | Aug 24, 2017 | Last updated Dec 21, 2022

Casey had lost some weight in her early 20s with Weight Watchers, but as she got closer to her 30s, she found her body wasn’t responding the same to her efforts. She eventually regained all the weight she had lost and then some. Like most people, who have tried to lose weight many times before, when she signed up for Noom’s 2-week free trial, she wasn’t expecting this time to be different.
I assumed this was going to be another program that didn’t work for me. I’m so glad I was wrong.

Casey decided she no longer wanted to be prescribed a meal plan or told to eat a certain way. Like most people, Casey knew what she should be doing, but she wanted to learn the how and the why: How she could make it work for her and why it was so important.

The daily articles and challenges Casey received with Noom helped her achieve this goal, learning all about food and nutrition, and understanding how she could fuel her body and be health, not just lose weight.

I find that I’m always looking for more information on my body and health. I really loved the daily articles and information that was given. It made more sense as to why I needed to eat and workout differently.

Casey found it comforting to know that she was not alone in her struggles, so having the support of peers on a similar journey was helpful.

It felt like a team. And I was always able to get some great tips on how to handle [my struggles].

Casey learned so many valuable lessons to take with her as she spreads her wings and begins to fly solo.

She’s learned how to set and achieve her goals by breaking them down piece by piece.

There were always really good suggestions for smaller goals. It felt good to accomplish something smaller on the way to a bigger goal.

She also learned how to bounce back from setbacks and push past plateaus.

I’ll always remember what Coach Jack told me at the very beginning of my journey. Having a bad day is like breaking a plate. You don’t break all the plates after the one is broken, so you shouldn’t let one bad day affect the next week. That’s really stuck with me.

Setting realistic, short-term goals, and developing the skills she needs to overcome any obstacle helped Casey lose 22lbs and drop one pant size in just 16 weeks, and make significant strides in her nutrition and activity.

When I started this, I could walk and that was my exercise. Yesterday I was able to run 2 miles at a steady jog pace without walking. I’ve come to really enjoy my runs and exercise in general. I’ve also learned the foods that help my sustain energy on my runs and how important it is to not overeat after the workouts.

When thinking about how else her life has changed, Casey was happy to share.

I never would have thought that 4 months ago I’d be where I am today.  I’m more active and outgoing.  I’m ok with trying a new workout that I’ve never done before.  I feel better about eating out and cooking. I have a better understanding of my body and how it responds to food and exercise. I just feel really good.

When asked what made her experience so valuable, Casey was quick to thank Noom and her coaches for providing her with the motivation and support she needed to make the change.

The accountability! You can’t fake it! I think having a coach is what sets this program apart from other weight loss programs.
