How Cobie lost 133 pounds in less than a year

In January 2015, Cobie stood on a scale for the first time in years and was shocked to find that she weighed over 300 pounds. Through her tears and disappointment, she knew she had to make a change.

Her husband had made a new year’s resolution to get in shape and eat healthier, and Cobie was inspired by his success. She knew her health was in danger at that high weight – she wasn’t sure how she could lose the weight, but she knew she had to.

“Do I want my children to grow up with these problems?” Cobie asked herself. “ Do I want to continue to have aches and pains at age 32? How will I be at 64? 85?” She knew it was time to make a change. She looked online to find an app to educate herself about eating right and to keep track. She found Noom and began changing her habits.

Cobie says the daily breakdown of your intake into green, yellow, and red foods was a game changer for her. “When we downloaded the app, I was so amazed at how I thought I was eating pretty healthy…until I entered my food into Noom and realized how many yellow and red foods I was eating, and how many calories I was consuming in a day!” she says. Cobie felt the challenge to eat more green foods and loved how much more energy she started to feel with these changes. She began considering more carefully just what foods she was choosing to eat and which would benefit her the most.

Cobie also realized that she needed to start moving more to help aid her weight loss. When she started with Noom, the step tracker helped her see how little she was originally walking around throughout the day. She started to make goals for daily steps and always wanted to beat them. Cobie says that feeling of victory when she passed her goals really kept up her motivation to keep doing better.

Now almost a year later, Cobie has lost an impressive 133 pounds! She says her biggest non-scale victory was fitting into her wedding dress on her 10th wedding anniversary. She loves being able to participate in any activity her kids want to do, like ice skating – and loves seeing the smiles on their faces when they realized she could finally join in.

“I’m so thankful that I’m this new person,” Cobie says. She can bike, jog, play soccer, all without any pain – a few activities she never thought she could do again. She also says her sleep has improved and she generally feels happier about her life. She wants to keep improving her health and keep up her new, active lifestyle which she has come to love

Cobie’s biggest piece of advice to her fellow Noomers is to make time for your diet. “You can’t ‘find’ time, you have to make it!” she says. She knew that changing her lifestyle wouldn’t just benefit her – it would make life better for everyone around her. So she prioritized time for food shopping, meal prepping, and exercising. Her new motto is consistency: stick with Noom food tracking (and track honestly), keep your foods healthy, weigh in every week, and reward yourself once in a while. Cobie says the results of her hard efforts made everything feel worth it!
