by | Apr 15, 2015 | Last updated Mar 17, 2023

NEW YORK, New York, April 14, 2015 — Noom, Inc. a mobile health company, announced today that it has partnered with CareConnectors, Inc. to enable the company’s healthcare focused coaching platform, Noom Health, to exchange data with leading electronic medical record systems (EMRs).

Noom’s coaching platform combines human and artificial intelligence to deliver successful behavior change programs that scale. The company’s current programs target the prevention of chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. CareConnectors, Inc. will enable Noom’s platforms to both send and receive relevant clinical data to and from patient EMRs.

“The move to accountable care emphasizes the importance of preventive care, and giving accountability and ownership to the individual person. mHealth applications like Noom empower people with a chronic disease, or who are at-risk for one; to change ingrained, unhealthy behaviors by delivering personalized behavior-modification plans in real time. We are delighted  to be working with Noom to help integrate protocol-adherence data from consumers directly into the EMR. We look forward to working with Noom’s  impressive list of health ecosystem partners including Aetna, EmblemHealth, New York Presbyterian, Mt. Sinai,  and many others to make mobile heath data interoperable and useful for healthcare providers,” said Dr. Sanjay Patil, CEO/Founder of CareConnectors.

“Noom’s platform is designed to make it easy for patients and providers to engage with each other and with a behavior change program,” said Saeju Jeong, CEO of Noom Inc. “Connecting our platform to the EMR gives everyone involved a more complete picture of a patient’s health from food intake to lifestyle behaviors, making it possible for providers to take a whole person approach in their delivery of care.

Healthcare providers who use Noom’s coaching platform have access to a customizable dashboard and messaging system allowing them to monitor and communicate directly with their program participants. Participants are guided by providers to download the Noom Health platform from either iTunes App Store or Google Play Store and access their program through a uniquely identified program code. Participants follow a program that includes daily tasks assigned by a trained coach, short-form education content, food-logging, exercise-logging, one-on-one coaching and group support. The ultimate goal is to drive lasting behavior change for healthier habits.

CareConnectors provides interoperability solutions for healthcare enterprises like Noom based on industry-standards for secure, bi-directional data exchange with 85% of the market leading EMRs. Providers, patients, pharmacies and practices are able to order and share curated data in a meaningful, secure context without changing healthcare provider workflow.
