Noom’s Barcode Scanner Isn’t Recognizing an Item

We’re always adding to our barcode database, but there are some products out there that aren’t currently in our records. You’ll see the following error message if a barcode isn’t in our system yet: “Sorry, we don’t have that barcode yet. Let’s add it so you can help us improve our database!” From here, you can select Yes, let’s add it! or Not now.

Adding a Food to the Database from the Barcode Scanner

  1. After you scan your food, select Yes, let’s add it!
  2. Fill out the required Food name field.
  3. Fill out the optional Brand NameCalories, and Serving Size fields.
  4. Don’t make any changes to the barcode number unless there is an error with the number recorded.
  5. Tap Log in the top right corner.

Keep in mind that doing so won’t immediately add your item to our database and the item won’t be saved in your recently logged list.

Adding a Food to the Database after Searching for the Food

Instead of scanning the item, you can also choose to log it by searching for it in our database using the search bar. If the item is still unavailable in our regular database:

  1. Tap Can’t find it? Let’s add it!
  2. Fill out the required Food name field.
  3. Fill out the optional Calories field.
  4. Tap Log in the top right corner.

Keep in mind that doing so won’t immediately add your item to our database and the item won’t be saved in your recently logged list.

We’re always working to improve the Noom experience, so look out for updates soon!
