System-Six claims to support weight loss efforts using a six-part formula that enhances energy, assists in the burning of calories, improves mood, boosts the metabolism, supports the breakdown of carbs, and protects cell health. It’s one product among a family of brands manufactured by Irwin Naturals, based in Los Angeles, Calif. Generally reported to be credible, System-Six is known as an add-on or enhancement to any weight loss plan of the customer’s choosing. After some poking around, you’ll find that System-Six does little to nothing to enhance the weight loss generally experienced in this scenario.
How Does it Work?
System-Six is promoted by Irwin Naturals as an all-natural, non-synthetic assistant (of sorts) to a weight loss goal that is largely managed by a separate system of your choosing. Its formula takes on the following six components:
- Thermogenesis: Raises heat production and helps burn calories using a combination of green and white tea extracts and Advantra Z.
- Energy: Uses natural caffeine and botanicals like Yerba Mate, guarana, and spirulina.
- Mood: Uses Standardized Rhodiola extract to support brain health.
- Metabolism: Uses a combination of B vitamins to assist with converting food into energy, breakdown of carbs, fats, and proteins.
- Carbohydrate Support Uses chromium to breakdown carbs into glucose and maintain blood sugar levels.
- Antioxidants: Consisting of Vitamin C and E as well as other nutrients for cell health and nutrition.
The Glaring Issues With System-Six
- System-Six Doesn’t Equal Weight Loss
When taken as suggested, the formula helps you increase energy (it’s a lot of caffeine!) but… there’s simply no evidence that System-Six creates weight loss. Many reviewers find that System-Six doesn’t seem to have an impact, and that any weight loss is due to their diet changes.
- System-Six Contains Lead
Although it seems like only trace amounts of lead are possible in System-Six because of its natural makeup, the product is obligated to make it known under California law. Lead exposure can cause birth defects and other reproductive harm. This may be one of the reasons the label discourages expecting mothers from using System-Six. Those under the age of 18 are discouraged as well.
- System-Six Makes You Jittery
Limiting additional caffeine intake is suggested, probably because the first two components of the formula are made up mostly of caffeine. Again, it’s a lot of caffeine.
- System-Six Disrupts Sleep
This is likely due to the amount of caffeine in the product. Some manage this by taking fewer pills than suggested or by taking them all early in the day with food.
- System-Six is Not Backed by Scientific Evidence or the FDA
There is no scientific data listed in support of System-Six, Irwin Naturals, or its formula(s). Irwin Naturals states this product has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
- System-Six is Expensive
An order of System-Six (100 capsules for $20.24, plus shipping) lasts only 16 days. At that cost, you’d get a much better value opting into a fully supportive program like Noom. Noom knows weight loss can’t be packaged into a bottle and zeroes in on psychological factors that affect long term change.
- System-Six is not for Vegetarians and Vegans
The gel capsules are made of gelatin and the ingredients list anchovies on the label.
System-Six: Where’s the guidance?
Given System-Six is presented as an expert, innovative, and unique supplement to diet plans, we’d hoped they’d offer a diet plan of their own – but they don’t. Not anything substantial anyway. What you’ll find on their website, per a url redirect on their label that leads to their blog, is a single post that lays out vague meal and exercise ideas for one typical day. But where do you go from there? If Irwin Naturals realizes their customers want better guidance in this area, they don’t seem too concerned about meeting that need.
System-Six Falls Short
Short term weight loss is a possibility while taking System-Six, but it’s likely that whatever whatever diet you’re simultaneously following is what’s really doing the work. Most weight loss pills, unfortunately, don’t do anything on their own – and System-Six doesn’t prove to be any different. If their only upside is an energy boost from caffeine, well… there’s lots of ways to get that without an expensive formula composed of common sense nutrients and vitamins.
Taking System-Six comes down to an overall fragmented approach to weight loss, an à la carte add-on that might seem beneficial at first glance, but proves highly unnecessary with a bit of research before buying. It’s not a comprehensive weight loss plan with every base covered toward weight loss achievement.
